Pont de Chambon is situated between two bustling market towns. The town of Duras (4kms away) dominated by the Chateau in the centre of the town is well served with supermarkets, bars, restaurants and a weekly farmers and craft market. Secondly the bastide town of Montsegur (7kms) has a similar range of facilities. There are many other lovely towns to visit in this area: St Emilion, not only for wine tasting, but perhaps venture to the old cloisters to try the champenoise ( originally made by the monks ). Bergerac situated on the Dordogne river is approximately 35mins away. It has a lovely old town and excellent market. Water parks can be found in Bergerac and Brive. Beaches are 1½ hr drive away or try the local lakes for water sports. The Dordogne River is only approximately 20 kms away offering a range of water sports and a little further afield are the Lot and Gironde rivers. The Chateau des Vigiers near Saussignac has an excellent golf course. Tennis, horse riding and many good walks and cycle routes are within a few kms.
